Philobook.com

The first Italian e-Book web bookstore, based on Adobe Digital Editions reader

Philobook.com is a trademark of NetPhilo S.R.L., a web bookstore that picks up e-Books of essays, fiction and art at prices cheaper in comparison to the covers. It is the first Italian bookstore to use Adobe Content Server 4, a system of management of DRMs (Digital Rights Management) that NetPhilo has contributed to develop and to integrate.

Philobook was born to answer to costumers needs to buy for a few Euros the information enclosed in press publications that might have gone exhausted in time or simply can be found only in remote libraries. In order to satisfy these demands derive two fundamental consequences: the first one concerns the possibility to also offer the information of the publications to students with visual diseases, the second relies on the chance for publishers to use a new distribution channel.

Philobook is not an alternative to printed-paper; indeed it is an integrator of the circulation of ideas in a time in which the printed-paper production is noteworthy and its distribution often expensive and uneasy. Philobook establishes in 2009 combining passion and enthusiasm of five partners: Adobe, Insight, NetPhilo, Mimesis and Associazione Fidare and still it is growing: since June 2008 also includes among its publishers Il Brennero / Der Brenner, Centro Studi Bhaktivedanta, Corponove Edizioni, Edizioni Lina Brun, Edizioni di Sofia e Piccola Casa Editrice Acquaviva.
